25 Jun A luxury weekend in Dusseldorf – Germany’s fashion hot-spot!
There are many fantastic cities in Germany where you may spend an amazing weekend. Berlin, Hamburg and Munich come to mind. However, there is one city that might not show up on the bucket list of the globetrotting glitterati but is well worth a visit: Dusseldorf!
The seventh biggest city in Germany is first and foremost known as a major European fashion hub and hosts an amazingly creative scene of young designers. Of course, you may find all the big names in the most prestigious shopping miles of the city: the “Königsallee” (or simply called “KÖ” by the locals) and the “Schadowstraße”. But if you take your time and stroll around the city centre for a while, you will stumble across many beautiful fashion boutiques from local designers and artist.
Then there’s the pulsating nightlife! The Old Town of Dusseldorf is commonly known throughout Germany as “the longest bar in the world!”. The rustic and charming city centre is packed with bars, clubs and restaurants. If you’re a single man or woman who would like to get to know the locals on a personal level, a night in the Old Town will give you plenty of chances to do so! Or – as an easy alternative – you could download Germany’s newest paid dating app called “Taleja” and arrange the perfect date.
If it’s culture you’re interested in, Dusseldorf is packed to the brim with fantastic architecture, numerous points of interest, and – of course – museums. But first things first: A place to stay!
Luxurious hotels in Dusseldorf
Hosting many trade fairs, fashion shows and the famous carnival parade, which is an annual tourist magnet, the city is home to a variety of high-class hotels. The best address in town is the classic luxury 5* hotel “Breidenbacher Hof”. THE room to book here would be the Royal Suite on the top floor, where you’ll pamper yourself with 400 sqm of pure extravagance! Of course, the Breidenbacher Hof also offers a fine dining restaurant, a spacious spa area and everything else you can expect of a top-notch hotel. If you are a single gentleman who would like to share the abundance of living space for a little while with a sophisticated, elegant and sensual lady, all you need to do is pick up you phone. Dusseldorf is also home to one of the most renowned escort services for the European high society. If you prefer a smaller, cosier atmosphere, you should book a room in one of the up-scale boutique hotels in Dusseldorf. The “Living Hotel De Medici” is a great example! This elegant hotel is in the heart of the city and leaves no wish unfulfilled.
Dusseldorf is shopping deluxe!
If you’re in town and in a spending mood the “Königsallee” is your hunting ground! You’ll find all the high-end fashion labels, exquisite jewellery stores, VIP clubs, fantastic restaurants and posh wine bars. Which means: The “KÖ” is the playground Dusseldorf’s rich and famous! Just around the corner of the “KÖ” you may find the “Schadow Arkaden” which is basically the little (and slightly hipper!) sister of the “Königsallee”. This shopping paradise is home to one of the biggest shopping malls of the city as well as to more than 200 shops of all shapes and sizes.
Culinary delights in Dusseldorf
Gourmets will have an unforgettable time in Dusseldorf! You could start with a nice glass of wine, a fancy cocktail or a cold beer in “Tino’s Bar” on the KÖ. A great place to relax and unwind after your shopping tour. For dinner you may choose between 11 restaurants which all show off one Michelin star. One of the best and authentic places to dine is definitely “Fritz’s Frau Franzi“ (which translates into „Fritz’s wife Franzi“). This very charming restaurant is part of the „Fritz Hotel” and will spoil you with an incredibly creative kitchen, superb wines and a unique atmosphere.
If you’re still up for it, you should dive into the pulsating nightlife of Dusseldorf! First hit the old town for some bar hopping. If you have not done so yet, you must try at least one round of “Altbier” and “Killepitsch”. Both are local delicacies of which every Dusseldorfer is proud off. Back to the KÖ where you can dance the night away in the cities most exclusive night club: The “Nachtresidenz”. This state-of-the-art club hosts a laid-back cocktail bar and two dance floors.
Conclusion …
Dusseldorf is not only easy to reach (it has its own international airport!), it is also a great place to spend a luxurious weekend.
